DETAILS

Mariachi is Mexico's most famous musical genre. 

Traditionally, a Mariachi group consisted of two or more musicians. They typically wore simple manta costumes, huaraches, and palm hats. They used string instruments: violins, vihuelas, and guitarrones.

Over time, adaptations were made to the way songs were sung to 'modernize' both musically and visually. As a result, groups now include more musicians and wear costumes inspired by charro attire. Additionally, new instruments such as trumpets were introduced.

In 2011, UNESCO declared it an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Mariachi is more than a genre...
it is history and tradition; it is a symbol of identity and belonging.
